“With animals as with people, sometimes I think I communicate best without words. It's all in the eyes.”

SORRELL SCRUTTON, or Soso as many of the LA club community community knows them, gained much of their experience behind the lens by spending nearly 20 years in front of the camera. That time gave them a deep appreciation for the power of storytelling through imagery, shaping their distinct visual style today.
Now based in downtown Los Angeles, Sorrell works primarily out of a studio, but can just as often be found barefoot on the beach or perched in the canyons of LA, always chasing the perfect light.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sorrell created the Queerantine Project to document queer lives and intimate moments in isolation, preserving a powerful chapter of resilience, creativity, and connection within the LGBTQIA+ community and their pets. Their dog Frankie, a constant sidekick and top model is a constant source of inspiration.
Outside of photography, Sorrell is also a DJ and created Soso iNC. an event production company dedicated to creating safe, joyful spaces for queer communities in Los Angeles. They’ve produced and performed at beloved events including Hot Flash, Hotter Flash, DIVORCE, Dad, I’m Gay, and more, building spaces that celebrate queer culture, music, and connection.
Sorrell provides discounted rates for LGBTQIA+ clients and works hard to foster a safe, welcoming environment for queer folks both in studio and beyond.
